A Word Picture

The braided leaves of the willow curtsy with the flirt of the wind playing peek a boo. Slight ripples of the iridescent lake laugh up to shore. Queen Anne’s Lace dance in rhapsody with the uncut tousled blades of grass.

A cardinal flies a few branches lower on the willow tree singing as a robin leaves its nest. Sunlight glimmers through the clouds for its own private ballet. The roots of the willow sigh with the lilt of a sassy trumpeter out to play.

Ever slowly the drops from heaven begin to fall. Cleansing, inviting the final display. I trace an outline of a rainbow with my left pinky and promise to embody this gentle attitude.
